Flipkart, the Walmart-owned e-commerce giant, has appointed Seema Nair as its new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). She will lead the company’s HR operations in this role, working closely with leadership and HR teams to drive organizational excellence.
Seema’s appointment comes during a leadership transition at Flipkart. Earlier this year, Krishnamurthy had informed employees about the departure of four senior vice presidents, further signaling ongoing leadership shifts within the company.
Previously, Krishna Raghavan had taken on the role of Chief People Officer before leaving to join The Nudge Institute as Chief People Officer. “Seema’s extensive experience across various industries positions her well to lead Flipkart’s HR function and drive organizational excellence,” said Flipkart Group CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy in an internal letter addressed to employees.
Seema Nair brings nearly 30 years of HR expertise to the role. Prior to joining Flipkart, she held leadership positions at prominent organizations across various sectors. She worked at Reliance Industries for 6 years, leading HR digitization efforts and group-level assignments, improving sales retention, and optimizing supply chain productivity. At Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages, she served as CHRO for India and SAARC, focusing on talent development and employer branding. Her nine-year tenure at Cisco Systems saw her drive people-centric initiatives in both domestic and global HR roles.
This appointment also arrives at a critical time, as Flipkart prepares for its annual festive season sales and continues to bolster its future capabilities. In addition to her business acumen, Seema believes that strong people, leadership, and culture are essential to an organization's success.
