UltraTech Cement Names Chandrashekhar Chavan as the New CHRO

UltraTech Cement, a subsidiary of the Aditya Birla Group, has appointed Chandrashekhar Chavan as its new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), taking over from Ramesh Mitragotri. Chandrashekhar, currently serving as the CHRO of Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail, was suggested for this role in November 2023, coinciding with Shobha Ratna's appointment as the CHRO for Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail.

Bringing to the table core competencies in HR risk mitigation, leadership development, engagement, large-scale change management, inclusion initiatives, due diligence, and post-merger integration, Chandrashekhar Chavan is instrumental in integrating numerous diverse businesses within the group.

Journey with Aditya Birla

Chandrashekhar Chavan has a diverse background within the Aditya Birla Group, having started his journey with the company in 1996. He has held various roles across different sectors, including Metals at Hindalco Industries, Financial Services at Birla Sun Life Mutual Funds, and Cement at UltraTech Cement. Beginning as deputy general manager in Mumbai at Aditya Birla Management Corp., he later transitioned to Hindalco Industries as general manager, overseeing HR for the aluminum sales and marketing division.  

With more than 11 years of experience as the Chief Human Resources Officer at Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail, Chandrashekhar Chavan is poised to assume the role of CHRO at UltraTech Cement in an exchange filing. His transition to this new position is expected to occur in April 2024.
